I love farm life. I was raised on a small farm with horses, chickens, goats, cats and dogs and the occasional pig or two. Animals have been my best friends. I have shed a few tears over many of them that have passed away. For a few years, after I got married I lived close to a busy road so our animals had been limited to a couple dogs, some chickens, guineas and a couple ducks. Now that I have moved back home, we hopefully will be blessed with the opportunity to have more animals. We have two dogs and a cat. Now I’m hopeful that soon we will be able to have some goats again, more chickens and ducks. Maybe someday, get the kids a horse. I would love to learn how to make goat soap, and goat cheese and have goat milk. I am glad that I can give my kids the opportunity to experience life on the farm and to be closer with nature. I loved spending my childhood outside, taking care of the animals. Feeding the animals, fixing their bedding, and shelters. Walking through the woods and fixing fences. Right now, our new home is built on part of the old pasture land. There has been many goats, cows and horses that have walked and grazed on this land. I can’t wait for the kids to be able to put on their outside work boots and track along while we care for the animals, them learning. And pray for God’s blessings and opportunities to teach them about nature. And I am grateful that they will get to walk on the ground and explore the same land that their papaw and uncle pa got to walk on and hunt on when they were young. While I hated gardening when I was little. I have grow to love it. And I hope that my kids love it from the beginning and continue to love and appreciate it forever.
